Voor het vak Engels moest ik een interview doen met mijn oma over haar schooltijd en haar eetgewoontes. We moesten dit omzetten naar een Engelse tekst zodat onze leerkracht ons op ons schrijven kon toetsen. bij deze mijn interview:
Hello grandma! Fine to hear you. In the first place, thanks for your time en your help. First, I'm going to ask you some questions about your schooltime. After that some more questions, but that time about your eating habits.
So, the first topping is school.
- If you check out the schools nowadays, is there a lot of differences compared with the past
Of course! First of all, we didn't have mixed classes, we had to wear uniforms, it was much more strict, the school days were longer, there were no computers. We did everything with a blackboard and chalk. We had nothing latter-day; That's the biggest difference.
- Did your parents have a lot of input on your study choise?
Yes. A big part of my family had a job in school. So, it was very stimulated. Also, when I graduated, only 2 classmates went to the university. I was very interested in chemistry. But when i talked about it, my dad wasn't interested and ignored me. I have no regret of my choice and I was really happy with my carreer as a French teacher.
- If we talk about secundary school and university, did you have many different teachers?
In Primary school, it's the same as now, one teacher for everything a whole year. In secundary school, we had for every subject a different teacher. It's also pretty much the same as now.
- Did they punish people a lot when they did something wrong?
All right, now the second subject: Eating habits
- Do you cook different nowadays?
Yeah, I eat more vegables. Back in the days, we ate soup, potatoes and meat. But now you just follow the trend. There are also a lot more possibilities because now you have supermarkets.
- So it's healthier?
Yes, because we eat less meat and more vegables. We take it into account and we let it affect us.
- Did you make a lot of foreign plates?
No. I think as a child, I ate spaghetti just 2 times. Also, people didn't travel. The television was just invented so there weren't cooking shows on tv. We weren't confronted with it.
- What's your favourite plate?
As a child, and also now, I really like ham rolls with cheese sauce and chicory. I like the ordinary food very much! I try the new stuff but the old ones are the best!
- Did you go to restaurants back in days?
No, no! Before I was married, I just went once to a restaurant. In my village were just one or two restaurants. And only when a funeral happened, people went to a restaurant. It was very rare that you went to one. Even the rich people didn't went to restaurants. If you had a party or a special event, you hired a cook. But I have to say, I'm very old (Haha).
- Were there a lot of restaurants?
No, the big cities like Ghent and Antwerp and Brussels just started to grow. So even there weren't a lot of restaurants. We never went to these cities so we never went to a restaurant either.
Okay, thank you very, very much for your time grandma! Goodbye!
